We are proud to announce that 19 students were inducted into the newly formed Waldorf School of Garden City Chapter of the New York State Science Honor Society on Tuesday, November 19, 2019! The ceremony honored students who have not only achieved notoriety through their Science coursework but who have also maintained a high standard of academic excellence in all of their classes. According to Co-Advisor Amy Stemkoski, “The induction of new members into the New York State Science Honor Society is important to the students, the chapter, and the school. In this ceremony, we celebrate character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Membership in our chapter of the New York State Science Honor Society has been earned by the effective demonstration of these qualities.” Carolyn VerPault, the other Co-Advisor, joined Ms. Stemkoski for the opening remarks that lauded the exemplary performance of the inductees.
Ms. Chiara Sugrue, Senior Administrative Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital and Assistant Professor at the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra, was the keynote speaker. Ms. Sugrue, who is also an alumni parent and a current member of the Board of Trustees, explained how there are many career paths open to those who love the sciences and why medical administration was the perfect fit for her. Her speech was an inspiration and we are grateful for her participation in this important event.
